Volunteer for Alameda Friendly Visitors

Alameda Friendly Visitors welcomes volunteers interested in spending 1 to 2 hours each week in a visit to a homebound recipient in their home or care facility. At the heart of our service is companionship and the time spent together can vary depending on the recipient’s interests and mobility. Oftentimes, visits are followed up with phone check-ins. Feelings of loneliness and isolation are replaced with a new friend, hope, and a visit to look forward to.

Volunteers are matched for compatibility with recipients based on shared interests, experiences, and other criteria. Recipients come to know that someone cares about the quality of their life. Visits can be arranged for any day of the week and are scheduled at the recipient’s and volunteer’s convenience.

Training, resource materials and quarterly volunteer meetings are provided.

If driving a recipient, I have a current, valid driver’s license and insurance coverage.
