August 2025 - Making Lives Better Every Day
We serve nearly 4500 hot daily meals each month to Alameda residents of all ages. After a successful pilot program, we are now providing over 600 frozen meals each month as well so our recipients have a means to tide them over when they are not home to receive a hot meal delivery or for some variety. We have even partnered with FAAS to provide food for pets!
July 4, 2025 - Alameda's Fourth of July Parade
For the past few years, AMOW Board Member Dave LIttle and fellow members of the Bay Area Thunderbird Owners Club have represented Alameda Meals on Wheels by entering several of their new and classic T-Birds in the Alameda 4th of July Parade, the longest in the nation! This year, happy AMOW recipient Tony was our guest of honor, riding in the lead car with Dave.
November 2024 - Ice Cream Social
In November 2024, AMOW held an ice cream social at Tucker’s Ice Cream on Park Street to thank the many volunteers who give their time to deliver meals, act as Friendly Visitors, and contribute in other ways to make our programs successful.
The event was generously underwritten by Berg Injury Lawyers. Great acoustic guitar music was provided by Andy Drake.
October 2023 - 50th Anniversary Celebration
Alameda Meals on Wheels was founded in 1973, over 50 years ago! On October 15, 2023, we celebrated this anniversary with a party in the beautiful new Liberal and Language Arts building at the College of Alameda. Guests included City government officials, volunteers, recipients, donors, and current and past Board members. The cost of the event was generously underwritten by donors.
