Alameda Meals on Wheels spends nearly $700,000 a year just on food for our recipients, including volunteer delivered daily meals 365 days per year, protein supplements, fresh food from the Alameda Food Bank and Mercy Brown Bag, and twice-yearly ePacks of a seven day supply of shelf-stable emergency food. Our surveys have shown that nearly all of our recipients suffer from food insufficiency. We continue to work to find ways to provide greater security but those efforts do not come for free.
Because we serve people of all ages and income levels, we are not eligible for government funding. We depend on the generosity of our Alameda community for all of our funding needs.
You could become a sponsor of one of our food services: a $1000 donation will supply over 3 months of daily meals to a recipient; $2500 will buy two weeks of our needs for protein supplements; $5000 will fund half of one of our ePack purchases, and $10,000 will fund an entire ePack buy. AMOW has been able to thrive for over 50 years because of the support it has received from individual donors and the business community. Over the years, AMOW has been fortunate to receive support from a number of business sponsors who have donated cash as well as made “in-kind” donations.
